Dancer-choreographer, improviser, teacher and shiatsu practitioner living in Brussels.

Ilaria devotes herself to improvisation and instant composition with a particular interest in the relationship between sound, movement and space. In recent years her research has been inspired by the following principles: simplicity, ease, and concreteness—by what exists and what can be imagined. She focuses on the gesture as an expression of meaning that inscribes itself and leaves a trace in space-time.

Meeting and studying with Julyen Hamilton, Fatima Miranda and Seijiro Murayama was fundamental for her work. After collaborating with various choreographers throughout Europe – including Bruital & Karrakallas, Pietro Pizzuti, Emma Dante, Radhouane El Meddeb, Ismael Ivo, Tierema Koama, Rakesh Sukesh, Marco Galignano, Laudati Danza—she now creates her own works, both solo and with other artists.

Together with percussionist Andres Navarro Garcia, she created the duo ZAMAN. In 2024 she received a research grant from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles for the creation of ESPACE (a research project about improvisation between movement, voice and live music). Ilaria creates in theatrical and unconventional contexts; she is co-founder of Bubble Dance, a movement centered on improvised performance art in public spaces.

Originally from La Spezia, Italy, she holds a degree in DAMS (Disciplines of Art, Music and Performing Arts) from the University of Bologna and she is certified by EISA (European Iokaï Shiatsu Association) in Belgium, where she studied with Sasaki Sensei, Thierry Camagie and Palle Dyrvall.

Since 2010, Ilaria has dedicated herself to teaching, passing on her passion for movement to people of all ages, combining dance with social projects - including Maison des cultures de Molenbeek, La Raffinerie Charleroi Danse, CCTheux, Famenne Ardenne, Escale du Nord, Petit Château (Migrant reception centre), ASMED Ballet of Sardinia, Festival coPer_ACCIÓN (Murcia). Thanks to the partnership between Metx and the CC Bruegel, she organises OOAA ! improvisation group and coordinates dance projects for " Fête de la Musique " and " Dia de Muertos " in the Marolles district in Brussels.

The practice of oriental health arts such as Do-In and Shiatsu, combined with improvisation, gives her a global approach to the vision of the body and life.
